I almost bought a medium because of the price for the large. My wife looked at me and said will you be completely happy with the medium? I said in the long run probably not, so I bought a large. It was a somewhat a major purchase for us and we didn't want to have any regrets. Our kids are small right now, but once they become teenagers the larger space will come in handy. I know I would have regretted buying the medium, because I was only looking at price difference and not function. We said this maybe the last grill/smoker we ever buy, let's get what we want.Elkhorn, NE

@g8golfer, if you are keeping your gas grill the large should work out for you very well. Look at the https://ceramicgrillstore.com/ and at the AR before you get the plate setter. It seems to help the large with bigger cooks if you need it. I have and XL and have gone through 2 plate setters and am thinking of going with the AR or CI plate setter. That's my 2 cents.XL, WSM, Coleman Road Trip Gas GrillKansas City, Mo. -
Just know that once you commit to an egg and this website, your wife may just quit cooking all together. You'll be able to add more to your egg arsenal - but not without occasional complaints from the Mrs about how much meat you're buying. (That's what happened to me anyway) The egg is a great cooker and you're sure to have some good eats.L x2, M, S, Mini and a Blackstone 36. She says I have enough now....eggAddict from MN!

14+ Years ago when I decided to get an Egg, the choice was much easier. My family of 4 and the lack of choices (SM, MED, LARGE) made it easy to choose the Large. As the kids went off to college and got married we continued to grill on the large for just my wife and I but knew if we had guest or return family we could accommodate easily with the large.
Then the mini max came out, darn it, I had to have one. Today, for wife and I the MM is our go to grill and it works just fine for up to 4. If I'm doing long slow cooks, the large is my go to! If a crowd shows up for the holiday I use them both (Kinda like the XL).
I quite honestly don't remember or care how much I've used my large over the years but cooking 5 or 6 nights a week on it were not uncommon.
So echoing what @bgebrent said (PS... He's a pretty smart guy), today, I would suggest the MM and if the love of Egging captures your life as much as it has ours, maybe a LGE!.
Best of luck in your choice!
