Can now add a dome to the my list of warranty parts. Been hauling around the warranty Large base in the wifes Explorer. She needs the room on Thursday.  Took the dome off, put it on the table and saw....

    Total bummer.
    There are two types of ceramic cookers out there; 1) cracked ceramic cookers and 2) ceramic cookers that are going to crack.
    Hopefully the replacements will keep you egging for years to come.

    So something that effects the seal isn't a warranty issue? The gasket on the rear of the dome is falling apart....has been ever since it was new. How do you propose I go about scraping the old one off?

    email rrp, he has a written set of directions for gasket removal, cleanup, and new gasket application. i remove the gaskets when its new and they peel right off, i dont put a new one back on. that little chip is not going to hurt the performance of the cooker

    I have a similar chip on my dome.  I have yet to replace my gasket but I'm worried about when I do.

    Already have Ron's gaskets. Considering that the dome is a bit rearward set on this Egg...and it is relying on the area that will come off with the gasket to seal because of how the dome is sitting in disagree with you...

    You might consider using some of the high temp RTV to hold that piece in place when you install the Rutland.  Suspect that that chip is located where one of the clinch head bolts touches the ceramic ... they stand just a little proud and sometimes will chip the ceramic.

    you can smear a little furnace cement on that spot and put the new gasket back on if it bothers you. i have not had a gasket on my larges for a decade, all i notice is that it leaks smoke =)

    Not near the bolts. Several inches away actually.  Why should I rig it when I paid a premium for the warranty? Have spoken to Heather at AES, the distributor for the PNW. Heather is the representative that handles warranty stuff. She told me that if I ever have an issue that I feel will effect the functionality of the Eggs to let her know...
