my first smoke is underway in the egg. Also my first overnight smoke ever. Got a 10lb butt rubbed in jalapeno mustard and rub. Injected with a little coke/rub mixture.

Hey Nick, looking good. I like your set up, especially the hanging lights. Where did you look for those?

We had the cheap ones but they kept breaking. These are the ones from Costco. Worth every penny. As thick as a heavy duty extension cord.blasting said:Hey Nick, looking good. I like your set up, especially the hanging lights. Where did you look for those?

That 2nd pic is great! I always coat my pork butts with plain yellow mustard and the flavor seems to disappear. You'll have to let us know if the jalapeño comes through

I do too. Jalapeño mustard is purely because it's all I had lying around. Maybe it'll work out better!HellrodKC said:That 2nd pic is great! I always coat my pork butts with plain yellow mustard and the flavor seems to disappear. You'll have to let us know if the jalapeño comes through -

Here's something to consider to enable an easy check of how the cook temperature is trending. I turn the dome thermo (making sure not to engage the calibration nut) so that my target temp is at 12 o'clock. That way a quick glance let's me know what's happening. FWIW-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.

That's a brilliant idea! I can see it from my bedroom so that would've been great last night!lousubcap said:Here's something to consider to enable an easy check of how the cook temperature is trending.
