Daughter is graduating from college next week and just accepted a job offer today for her first teaching job - district, school and grade she wanted.  I'm really glad to get that breathing room.  One down, two to go!
Love you bro!

    Congrats.

People talk about big milestones in life - like the day you got married, the birth of your first child, wedding anniversary #10/20/50/whatever, but I guess I'm a more functional and less sentimental guy.  I'm thinking the big days worth celebrating are:

The day we took the Diaper Genie to the curb because we had changed our last diaper.

The day child #1 is off the payroll (could be soon... or she could go to law school).

The day we pay off the mortgage (next year).

The day that #2 (last) child is off the payroll (maybe 3 years, maybe he goes to med or graduate school).

So, getting a kid off the payroll is a big deal.  Great that she got the job she wants.

    Celebrate with a cold beverage.

Congratulations!  I have been teaching for 11+ years as my second career.  I hope she finds as much satisfaction and positive daily experiences as I do.   It is a fantastic 'job' if you find the perfect district and school.  I have been lucky enough to work in 3 such places.

Thanks all, I'm really, really proud of her, but seemed to have left that out of the first post!  She's accomplished quite a bit in her four years and she's got the red-ass to do so much more.  Years ahead of me at that age, must be her mother's influence.

    Nice Blake!  Congrats!

@Foghorn I agree about the milestones most of the time, but this year wife and I have a pair of 50's and our 25th, so we'll whoop it up a bit.

@smbishop thanks, I am sure she will.  She started college in pre-nursing and after a semester sat us down and said in her heart she wants to be a teacher.  LOTS of teachers in our family, so she's proud to carry that on in her generation.  It's what she's meant to do.

    Love you bro!

Yeah, I know.  One daughter, two sons, so at least it will be contained to a single event.  Just need to get the boys out of school and even a wedding will feel sort of affordable.

Hope you have better luck with that than I did. Enjoyed every min of it though. Seriously....congrats on the milestone.

Thanks @GATraveller but I want to be clear (for my own sanity and anxiety) no wedding!  @northGAcock is just sharing his wisdom (no doubt gained over many more years than I have) in order to wind me up.
    Love you bro!

Similar boat.  One graduated and on his own.  2 more in college this fall.

Not only nice nice to stop the $$$ outflow, but it's a great feeling knowing the oldest is doing well on his own.
