The guy can still wale for someone 70 years old. He kept rolling the songs out one right after another. Everyone knew them all....No break to tune the instruments...no chats with the audience.....just pure Van the man. Not pretentious....as he had a small band of four plus himself and a great background singer. His stage set up was dwarfed by the size of the stage, taking only a small section in the middle. No high tech backdrops or visuals.....just Van. His band members were multi instrument players. The first 1/3 of the show featured the Hammond B3 Organ....which is one of my favorite instruments. It's what makes the Allman Brothers & Steve Windwood who they are.

It was announced prior to the show that it start promptly at 8:00 PM so be in your seats. Ninety minutes later he called it a night. No encore, no Into the Mystic....but a great night with Van Morrison.

It was a great weekend for my wif and I. We had dinner with my son on the way to Butt Blast, full Frontal Butt Blast, tailgated with my daughter and son in law....and topped off by Van Morrison. As I have said before.....you have to catch these treasures when opportunities present themselves. It doesn't get much better than that. Thanks for reading what I am hearing. I just love live entertainment.

Wife was driving....and wakes me up from my recovery stopper.  Cracked me up. Don't you have an event coming up in the not to distant future?

SWMBO saw Van Morrison on Sat.  He's hit or miss.  I've seen a great show from him at a previous Jazz Fest.  She said he was a off at the fest.  Glad you caught him on a good night!

Yes sir. Now that Butt Blast is behind us I'm going to push the River Party a little harder. It's July 10 in Biloxi, MS. It's combined with the BBQ Brethren site.

Van is on my to see bucket list.  I know his concerts are uneven, but his music is so good I more than want to take my chances.  His new "Reworking the Catalog" duet album really hit home for me.  My bucket list is pretty short, but I feel the time is ticking.  Both my hearing and a few of my must-see artists may not be working well much longer. Just got McCarthy tickets; am hoping Leonard Cohen has another world tour in him.  Cohen and Morrison are the tied-for-#1 on my list now.

Man if you find Leonard Cohen on tour....please tip me off. Would love to join you at that one for sure. You are spot on.....Van was on my bucket list....and figured I would have to cross the pond to catch him. Good Karma.

Will say that a Leonard Cohen show is a MUST SEE!  Best show we have ever seen!! Saw him in Durham @DPAC a few years ago - man alive!! He played over 3 hours and must have been 2 or 3 encores!!! Plus he isn't getting any younger unfortunately.
Saw Bob Dylan last year - or at least we paid to see him - he only spoke 1 time during the show - had his hat pulled down low and it appeared to be him but you really couldn't see (and we were like 6 rows back from stage) - and no encore - was on the bus pulling away when we got outside - and the tickets were probably double what Leonard Cohen show cost.

Sound like a perfect weekend! Love that he still starts on time, and ends with no encore.

LOL.....The dude is 70 years old. He has an early bed time for sure. A professional none the less. He and his band wore jackets and of course he had on his trademark hat and dark glasses.

Check out the Robert Altman movie Mccabe And Mrs Miller .Leonard Cohen does the sound track . Music is great ,perfect match for movie and cinematography is outstanding . I can't get enough of Leonard Cohen's music and he is a great poet . Got a bunch of his cd's and vinyl .Saw Van Morrison at a Guinness Irish concert at Randall's  Island in NYC back in the 90's what a great day that was!

Robin, we seem to be well tethered in our interests. VM is a classic in and of himself. My Beautiful Wife and I are huge fans of live music events, and VM is one of the faves. I have seen him a couple of times, once outdoors. I think the earlier concerts were amongst the best I had seen. The last show, a few years ago, although not a let down by any stretch of the imagination, seemed as though he had a more important place to be, than the stage he was on at that time. Not saying he mailed it in, to the casual observer, he was awesome. The man is devoted to his craft. He is a "must see" for anyone who understands how the tapestry of the rock genre is woven. His thread in that work of art is the accent needed for completion, in my view.
Glad for you all that got to see the show, thank you for sharing.
