Neighbor leaves for a week in Cuba tomorrow
I'm getting their paper, their mail, checking their sump pump plus making sure a yard boy mows their yard properly. Now they ask what I want them to bring back to me in return. Any ideas? And BTW I don't smoke.

My boss just went. He said you can bring back cigars and rum now. I'd vote for a little of each but since you're a non smoker I think a couple of bottles of rum should be good.

How about one of those cuban pork sandwiches?

Cuban cigars are not that great. People just wanted them because they were decent and you couldn't get them here.
Ask for some good local rum. I think it's still 1 bottle per person without having to declare it.Aledo, Texas

I've been to Cuba a dozen times, the only things worth bringing back are aged dark Rum and Cigars really, they don't have much there, its a very poor country, but the beaches and people are very nice!Toronto, Canada LBGE

I was in Cuba many years ago, Navy training. They put us in a room with oxygen breathing apparatus, filled it with tear gas, then ordered us to remove our masks. This is how they demonstrated the effectiveness of our OBA.
Ahhh, memories of Cuba!!
I have no idea what it's like outside of the Guantanamo fence, but I imagine it's like any other Caribbean island. I'd ask him to bring me back some warm sunshine.

BTW the neighbors said how friendly the people were, but they noticed so few people work and what ones do are young people. There is no incentive to work so people don't, but are fed and housed by the guberment! Also if someone does work they can not be fired or laid off, but the employer must find them a comparable job elsewhere, but most just end up sucking the guberment t*t.

Sounds like Cuba has a jumpstart on feeling the Bern.

Have gone to Cuba twice, lovely people. Both rum and cigars are very cheep. A good bottle of golden rum is $9.00 Cuban pesos.

Too bad I've just seen this post. I came back from Cuba Saturday night. We brought back some honey, cigars and rum. It's good that you got the glass jar because the plastic ones are giving a bad taste to the honey. Havana Club and Santiago de Cuba rums are good. I have many different bottles of each brand. This time, I've had the opportunity to taste a different brand, Vigia. If you can get your hands on a bottle, go for it; it is out of this world. We visited Habana in an old Bel Air 55 retrofitted with a Toyota Diesel engine and air conditioning.
