Howitzer Rounds
I immediately thought of using it to make a variation of my Magnum Load treats.
So yesterday i tried it and the results were spectacular.
Yes, I made a video of it. Here's the link:
https://youtu.be/Mvs0ZD8d2vM
I called them Howitzer Rounds because they were much larger than Magnum Loads. I sure didn't want to call them a pansy name like Butterfly Kisses or Piggy Florets. They have way too much Flavor-Power for that. Or from a cardiologist's standpoint - Killing Power.
We tried them a number of different ways: on crackers, with a slice of candied jalapeno, a slice of pickle, some dabs of different mustards, and so on. All were delicious.
I might be serving some in Athens.
Thanks Darian. You did good.

Leroy,
So glad you put the tool to good use. I'm not going to tell you how many years ago I bought that tool with good intensions of using it...
I forgot I had it and stumbled across it again cleaning out a BBQ storage container. As soon as I saw it this time around I knew where it belonged...with you!
Great video, see you in Athens.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -

Great vid... what is the coring tool? What is the diameter of it?
The music made me think I was watching a movie in school about an amazing discovery from the Middle Ages.

I purchased the coring tool YEARS ago. I have searched all over the net to find them today and can not find them.hapster said:... what is the coring tool? What is the diameter of it?
Almost had second thoughts about giving it up but if you ever met Spring Chicken, and watched the joy in his eyes as he serves these artery clogging treats at Eggfest...
It cores out a hole about the size of the Lit'l Smokies. 1/2"-5/8" would be my guess. The rod core is Stainless and beveled inwards to be sharp.
I purchased from a large offshore fishing tackle company. It was advertised to core/remove the backbone from trolling bait such as mackerel, so it would move more life like in the water.
Funny thing about Egging, you never know where you might find your next cooking tool.lolThank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
Thanks. I think the music is most likely 'back-yard' Hoedown Celtic. Not sure. I had it handy on an untitled CD from way back.GATraveller said:Nice video - well done. Thanks for taking the time to put it together.

Nice video. To me, they look like targets, once cut. Porky bulls-eyes. When I was a kid, we would buy cinnamon infused toothpicks and chew on those when we didn't have atomic fireball jaw breakers. Wonder if a cinnamon toothpick like an arrow in the center would be a good serving?

Or maybe a mini cannoli tube would work. And a dowel to push out the plug. Then, you could make cannoli when you're done with the savory portion of your heart attack.I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

BRAVO! Leroy
yet another fine People's Choice winner video to show how you created a terrific sounding tasty treat! Heck yes that should be on your list for Athens. Those will be in demand so you two better start coring a bunch of sausages.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -

I saw quite a few. Nothing too expensive, but the prices did vary from about $15 to $30ish. One was even $60!

Springchicken, the fish deboners come in 3/8, 1/2 or 5/8 diameter. Which size would you suggest?

hmmm ... visit your local hobby shop or ACE hardware to purchase one of these: http://www.ksmetals.com/28.html ... you could take along a "Little Smokey" to properly size the tubing ... maybe not!
You could buy a stainless steel rod to fit inside, but it looks like the one in the video is simply a wooden dowel. Maybe one of your stirring spoons would work.
Total cost would be under $10.

5/8" for sure. The one you posted below is the same one but they are out of stock.

I was able to snag a Magnum Load in Salado, and was glad that I did! Quite tasty, so I'm looking forward to the howitzers.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

Those only go to 1/2". That's kinda small and you would have to force the little smokey's inside. Better to buy some 5/8" thin-wall copper pipe and a matching wooden dowel rod that fits inside. Be sure to scallop the pointy end and sharpen the inside edge.Jeepster47 said:hmmm ... visit your local hobby shop or ACE hardware to purchase one of these: http://www.ksmetals.com/28.html ... you could take along a "Little Smokey" to properly size the tubing ... maybe not!

Hmmm ... too small ... okay, a second option would be to go back to ksmetals, but in brass ... http://www.ksmetals.com/26.html Looks like stock #8143 in 5/8" will work. The neat thing about brass is that it's easy to form a knife edge with the bevel on the inside.
