I don't have a clue what that thing is but I took the liberty of asking our culinary genius, Chubby. He is on his mobile and can't remember his login so he asked me to pass on his thought. He thinks it is a tool to cut cucumbers for bread and butter pickles. Makes since to me.......Judy

Butter curler? Not that I have ever curled any butter, but I had a butter curler once and it looked a lot like your pic.
-
I don't think it would cut anything. The edge is very blunt and not sharp to cut like a crinkle-cut potato cutter would be.
A butter curler always has had a straight-across edge, in my recollection. And the upward curve at the tip must be for SOMETHING.Judy in San Diego -
It's for getting that last bit of dip out of the container when all you have is the tiny crumbs in the bottom of the chip bag, rather than doing the 3 finger crumb swipe, followed by the 3 finger lick. Especially if you have company.Lethbridge, Alberta LBGE & MM

I think it's a melon de-seeder, for like a honeydew or other fruits. That's what I would use it for at least, as it doesn't have a sharp edge to cut into the fruit.XLBGE, MMBGE, CyberQ

@1move: That is a really credible answer. I've never heard of a tool for that, and I always pay attention to buzz about gadgets. If Oxo answers me I'll let you all know what they say.Judy in San Diego

@EagleIII might be onto something. It does look similar to this style British butter curler from the 1940's:

The next time you have dinner guests, you should hand it to someone and say "here, I figured you could use this". Then enjoy as you watch them try to figure out what to do with it. If they do ask what to do with it, just laugh like they're being silly.Killen, AL (The Shoals)XL, Small, Minimax, and Mini BGEs

@McStew: That's a neat tool, but it does have a cutting edge, which mine does not. My edge is blunt.
@BigGreenBamaGriller: No, it's not sad that all these folks are giving this so much thought. That's our inner child having fun!Judy in San Diego -

Someone gave us one of those vegetable crinkle-cutters when we go married. Does anyone anywhere use those? Is there any advantage to having a crinkled carrot?Killen, AL (The Shoals)XL, Small, Minimax, and Mini BGEs

@BigGreenBamaGriller: No, I don't use mine, either, but now that you mentioned it I'm gonna start slicing carrots and zucchini like that before cooking them! That's cute. All I have to do is put the cutter in plain sight instead of buried in a drawer.Judy in San Diego

My best guess is that's the end that the spatula attachment fits on.

BBQ is a celebration of culture in America. It is the closest thing we have to the wines and cheeses of Europe.
Drive a few hundred miles in any direction, and the experience changes dramatically.
