Thanks! I was about 1/4" to low, the hinge was rubbing on my countertop. I plan on pouring a half inch concrete pad to go under the nest. Just couldn't wait that long to fire it up.

Like it. Do you just use quickCrete for these type projects? Rebar or mesh reinforcement?

I'm in Ky too, you can correct any mistakes you may have made on a second table for me. Looks sharp.

I poured mine face down on a piece of melamine board, and polished the top with a variable speed polisher. I did use some wire mesh and #3 bar to create a mat inside the top.
Yes you can use quickcrete for something like this, personally I would use a high strength bag mix, look for type III Cement.
Let me know if you need any help!

I just came across this when looking for ideas for a cedar/concrete table for my XL egg. Nice design! Now that you've had some time to break it in, do you have any lessons learned? Is that 2x4 cedar? If so, where were you able to find that?NoVA -
Very nice, the top looks great! I poured one using QuickCrete countertop mix 4-5 years ago and it's held up perfectly. Yours is very professional looking. I didn't polish mine, just has a rough look to itPackerland, Wisconsin

How did you make the form for the circular cutout?

I've seen people use styrofoam insulation cut in a circle and lined with duct tape or something similar.NoVA

The only thing I would do differently is make the opening for the egg 1" bigger than they recommend.
