@tarheelmatt - Insides are in the Jr. Used pieces of foam to keep ceramics from bumping during the ride, packed everything tight, worked well. I have a pie tin I use as a drip pan, cover it in foil for easy cleaning. Here's a butt I cooked on that trip:

Looks like the probe had to be all but through that pork knowing what size you can fit in the MM.

I bring four things on the road:

Egg (mini or small or both if the group is big enough) - I use construction shims to keep the inside parts stable for transport.
    Cooler with meat/food and beverages
Cooking tote (make sure to have a pair of welding gloves in there - it sucks to forget those when you're in a parking lot)
    Galvanized bucket with lid

My travel tote that has everything except seasonings kept in it permanently. I bring the seasonings I'm going to use for the planned cooks. Most of my tailgating utensils are el'cheapo versions of what I use at home since they don't get used that much. I do keep a Thermapen in there all the time though since I can't seem to cook without one anymore.

In my bucket, I put the lump in a garbage bag and a gallon jug filled with water. At the end of the cooks, I put the burning lump in the bucket and dump in the water to quench the coals. There's not always a place to get rid of hot coals but once they're quenched, it's no problem. Also, I always end up cooking for more people at a tailgate than my own group so I bring plenty of lump. Funny how the egg draws a crowd at a tailgate.

We pack our MM up for all tailgates and for family vacays - We take our cast iron grid exclusively - have a galvanized locking lid container that holds the lump, any wood, our kick ash basket along w/ ash pan and tool, starter cubes, our woo, tongs, spatula, and a plastic container of various grilling/serving tools.  The galvanized container makes for quick cool down and allows us to secure the MM.  anything soft like gloves goes into the MM for the trip and keeps it from having anything move inside.  If you saw all the stuff we take for tailgating - we don't leave room much room for ourselves - but the MM travels very well and is happy to go for a ride!!!  Of course we have our 'Camp Kitchen' that holds a ton of our stuff (including the adult beverages & Such).
Hope you guys are doing well.  Haven't taken my MM on a road trip....but getting close.
