My fellow Yeti Tumbler owners - beware the creeping crud
went to refill my YETI 20 Tumbler today and I noticed something on the lid rubber ring. Pulled it off and found the crud below it. Took a soapy toothbrush to it and it looks clean again. Just a note to do a deeper clean every once in a while. The exterior clean does not seem to be good enough.

I thought they were somewhat permanent. It's a pretty tight fit. Does it sit loosely now that you've removed it? I'd be interested to see what's lurking under mine now.------------------------------

I kill it with whiskey on the regular.

I used a paper clip (unfolded). It worked great to take off the seal w/o damaging.

I would think taking the gasket off or "tampering" with it would void the warranty. Might want to check before messin @tarheelmattLarge and Small BGECentral, IL

I take mine off and wash all the time. Hasn't hurt it yet. Lid still fits tight.

I did the same thing a few months back and found a bunch of crud. I guess it may depend upon what you are drinking. I drink iced tea more often than not so mine was pretty cruddy. If I were drinking water it may be a different story.Bloomfield, NJ

The blunt backend of a spoon works great to slide under the ring without damaging it.

Mine built up crud periodically until I started running it in the dishwasher, then I haven't had that problem. I've never had any issue with the seal after taking off the gasket.Love you bro!

I just push with my thumbs at 3:00 and 9:00 towards the 12:00 position and it will buckle enough to get the gasket off.
