Notice (1) of the Filets has been replaced by a sausage....

Guilty as charged, stole it off counter while I was seasoning them.

You have no idea how much I can identify with this. Such an innocent look on that face too.

All dogs are hunting dogs, highly skilled at finding food wherever they can in their environment :o .  Combination of sight, smell and speed make them deadly predators. Some are more selective about their prey, but all will go for filet.  At the other end of the spectrum; labs will go for anything that moves or can be moved, and a surprising many things that can't.  Good thing they like us (most of the time)...we would have no chance ;)

When I egg I almost always have 4 hot dogs, sausage or brats just for my Lili Ann. She's patient and waits. She likes a little crust on hers so.... She's an egghead dog with discriminating taste.

Yep. Know all about the sneak attacks to food on the counter. Not only meats either. I once took some burgers outside to put on the egg and came back inside to find 3 buns left out of an 8 pack and package ripped to shreds on the floor. Funny how sheepish they are too when caught doing something wrong. They know!

Mine hijacked an entire flank for fajitas after they were cooked and resting on the counter.

He has also helped himself to multiple pb&j sandwiches, a tamale, chicken nuggets from the kid (which is what she gets for not being on guard), popcorn, chips... Also he LOVES coffee. Little f-er. Good thing he's cute, cause he'd make a great pair of slippers. I'm like... half kidding.

You couldn't possibly get mad at that face!

Rocky Dog did that to a plate I brought in once.  Just pulled and plated a couple of brats.  Sat down in my chair and put them on the end table.  Door bell rings, and when I get back plate is on the floor, food is gone, and nothing but a mustard stain left on the carpet, lol.

    Gotta lov'em.

That is one beautiful fur baby you got there.  Way too cute to stay mad at.  ;)  Here is mine after she grabbed her marrow bones treats off the counter while we were gone.  She ate the entire bag.  She pooped them all out though in due time.  LOL

My old chocolate lab had a talent for breaking into coolers.  He was loads of fun to take on camping trips...we always remembered to secure ours, so he would typically raid the neighboring camps.  Thank god I work for a meat company, and always brought extra as replacements.  He's lucky he didn't get shot.

I had an American Bull dog (no longer on the planet) eat a whole stick of butter from off of the counter. He was loose as a goose for a few days there. He was a great dog though.

We have a cat who works in concert with our female Corgi. The cat knocks the food off the counter, the Corgi gets it. Amazing how well they work together. Loses so far: Cube Steaks defrosting on the counter, Cornish Hen half, Turkey Sandwich, Whole Chicken Breast...the list goes on.

    Good thing they are cute!

had the same experience with some big chicken breasts recently.  Turned my back for 2 minutes while I went out to check my egg, came back to one less breast on the island!!!  Looked over in the corner and there he was chowing down

Got a Chocolate Lab  three years ago. Not use to an 80 lb dog being around as all we had up to that point were Yorkies. Really had to make a lifestyle change as to placement of food.  Finally SWMBO had lost enough dinners to our Lab. Installed an Invisable Fence inside.  No more Lab behind the counter

Our dog knows not to take food off the kitchen counters, breakfast room table, or the dinning room table.  My daughter has learned the dog considers all other surfaces fair game if food is left on them.
