Double R beef

purchased a few pounds that just arrived and just had a question. The package says use or freeze by 9/3/15. Obviously I know they froze it then and it's still good to eat. Curious if the others here that purchased it are that old as well?

Yes just got some and it was the same date range. It was still really good.
  • @SRFShane - can probably elaborate on this.

  • I've had a burger for lunch every day this week. This is the best ground beef I've ever had. By a long shot. I never thought it would make that much of a difference.

Hey @bhedges1987 - thanks for the question!

Yup, as you stated, that's a freeze-by date (which we obviously did) so all is well in terms of safety.

In terms of quality, it's a bit subjective, but our approach is that we don't want something frozen longer than 12 months.  That's the point where we believe it starts to affect the product quality.  Additionally, we want to give our customers the ability to keep a product in their freezer for up to 6 months after buying from us.  So, we keep a close eye on our inventory and anything that's nearing the 6 month mark, we focus on ensuring those get in the hands of our customers right away.

Again, it's a bit subjective - I'm sure we've all had the experience of finding something in the back of the freezer that has been there for a couple of years, cooking it, and it's still great.  But, as a premium brand, we stick to our above guidelines because we want to make sure you have the best experience possible.

Hope this helps, and I hope you love the beef as much as @Lit 's kid does in the above pic! (was the original burger bigger than his head?)

Cool!  Can't wait to try it tonight.  The ribs for lunch and burgers for dinner.  It's a SRF order kind of day
