cook time for a shoulder
I am going to cook 14.7 lbs of pork shoulder on the egg over night....how long should that take? in my old smoker with temp issues it would be 18 ish hours...

just added the rub, and warming to room temp. Godzilla is on, and snowzilla is blowing. had no problem maintaining 250 at 40 degrees, lets see how it does at 22 degrees.

thinking midnight to noon is my best bet (or check temp around 10 AM)

I would bank on 12 hours and make adjustments during cook if necessary. If need to speed up wrap it. If gets done early FTC. Bone in?Columbia, SC --- LBGE 2011 -- MINI BGE 2013

cool! firing it up at 11...will have a nice shoveling break at some point...

At 250 I'd be very surprised if that's ready on time unless that 14.7 pounds is split into two hunks. If it's two pieces I think your time will be closer.Stillwater, MN

As for cooking time, there is a good amount of variability between individual pieces so take all times as rough.225º: 2 hours a pound250º: 1.5 hours a pound280º: 1 hour per pound350º: 45 mins per poundSoutheast Florida - LBGE
In cooking, often we implement steps for which we have no explanations other than ‘that’s what everybody else does’ or ‘that’s what I have been told.’ Dare to think for yourself. -
2 chunks....it just went on at 225
