    How much ammonia do you use when cleaning a fryer? Can you just do ammonia and water and let it boil to clean it?

    Scottie, how much ammonia for my 6 gallon r and v fryer? And like Torch asked, just bring it to a boil and then drain it? Always learning something here. Thanks in advance.
  • Another question, what is the best way to dispose of old oil?  How to test oil to reuse?

    @SGH

    Brothaman, this is a lifesaver. The 24 blade unit i got is great for prepping chicken fried steak and before initial use i thought id need to dissamble the whole thing, which would be a time consuming pain.      Hot hot hot water, ammonia and of course the post ammonia cleaning with long bristled brush and dish soap worked

    Ill keep you posted on what i tenderize....and get picts up here...

    One point of caution which I don't believe has been brought up in this thread is if you use a septic system whatever you do don't pour the used ammonia down the drain! You can do some real damage to all that bacteria at work in your septic eating your "waste"!
    It would take a few gallons of ammonia to really harm the bacteria level in an average sized septic tank. And even then those bacteria levels will regenerate in a day or three.

    If one is just using one of those 16-32 ounce bottles of grocery store ammonia cleaner I wouldn't worry about pouring it down the drain.
