    I had a DVR for a while that worked with my antenna.  It was Tivo, so it was $9.95/month.  I think I paid less than $100 for the box compared to the other non-subscription DVR which was $300+.  Long story short, after a few year I went to cancel it and they started offering me all kinds of deals.  $4.95 a month, then free for three months and $9.95 again afterward, or buy lifetime for $100.  The lifetime was interesting, but then it was only for the unit I had.  I said this thing was 3 yrs old and what happens when it crapped out.  Oh, then it was a transfer fee of $50 (or $100??) to a new unit which they would be so kind to sell to me at a discount.  SCREW THAT!  Then they suggested I buy the lifetime deal and sell the unit on eBay.  Crazy.  They must be losing customers left and right and are trying anything to keep their numbers up.

    Here is all the info you need for Kodi.  Can be loaded on just about any device.  Can be used as your own home media center like Plex or used for strictly streaming using the add-ons.

    I have brighthouse for cable / internet and netflix.  I'm  a noob at this stuff, so what are my options if i we only like the normal channels abc, cbs, nbc?

    If you only want local channels I would look into an HD antenna.  Then get netflix, amazon prime, hulu, or some combination of them.

         It must be nice to stream all that content! We have two choices where I live- Satellite or cell phone thingy. (Verizon Jetpack). We have no unlimited down/up loads. We don't even get 4G. No cable, no DSL.
         I hate paying for advertisements, The Richmond TV stations suck, not as bad as Richmond radio stations do, though.
         BUT, I can smoke meat all I want, no neighbors to gripe. I can shoot and hunt in the yard all I want and no cops show up. When I am working in the garden and my fluid pill starts to work I don't have to stop and go in the house.
         I guess things equal out...
