Temperature keeps climbing with Smokeware cap?

  • I quit using mine for the same reason. I know I'm in the minority by saying this, but I think it's overrated for low and slows. I cooked in the rain for years with the metal top. No problemo.
I like the new one but did not like V1. The angled slots make all the difference. I went from totally out on the smokeware cap to 100% in on both eggs. Haven't used a DFMT since I got my V2 smokeware caps.

Drop in cap looks like this and works well!

Ron, does this cap extinguish the fire faster/more efficiently than simply closing the SW  vents?  Thanks.
Yes! BTW does everyone here know that credit goes to @Jeepster47 for the design and prototype for this snuff cap?

Maybe @CarolinaQ will jump in here.
Leave me out of smokeware discussions. I use a DFMT 2-3 times a year, otherwise nothing. Shutdown with ceramic cap. If it's gonna rain, I don't cook on the egg. If I get caught by surprise, almost never, I add a hardware store rain cap. Or not.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

It's hard to double down and buy another one when the current one isn't any good. I buffaloed my Smokeware cap.
