I picked up mine through the first KickStarter. I've had it since September or so and absolutely love it. Yes, you lose the efficiency of the ceramics, but the spinning skewers gives a self basting like no other.
We cooked on two kits at this year's Eggtoberfest. Everyone seemed to love to products cooked on it.
Here's some pics...

Looks amazing. Where did you get the picanha? Love that cut.Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html

I've got one ordered but won't get it till mid year next year. I missed the 2nd kickstarter so I'm way back on the waiting list. I plan to use mine more in my Shirley than over my egg.XL, Small, Mini & Mini Max Green Egg, Shirley Fab Trailer, 6 gal and 2.5 gal Cajun Fryers, BlueStar 60" Range, 48" Lonestar Grillz Santa Maria, Alto Shaam 1200s, Gozney Dome, Gateway 55g Drum

Big_Green_Craig i would be very interested in learning more about how you are using this with the egg. Set up amout of lump needed and maintaining fire control. ThanksLarge, small and mini now Egging in Rowlett Tx

To answer your other question: I start off with about a half a bowl of lump to get it going. My bottom vent stays open about 1/4" and I just trickle in more lump as the fire needs it. Because the dome stays open, you eliminate any type of flashbacks, etc. I can't tell you cook temp because it varies on the amount of lump.
You have two temp zones (bottom and top) and it's really all about just keeping an eye on it. This unit really takes grilling back to basics using fire and heat.
It's a ton of fun and watching the meat spin is mesmerizing. -
Aren't there rotisserie rigs for the Egg that let you close the lid?"I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

I will say the Rodizio is pretty clutch. Seems like a well thought out design.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

@JohnInCarolina Totally agree. I'd want to use it over a 55 gal drum burning oak...etc. And considering the materials used in constructing this it would seem to be a fair price point. Don't worry RTIC has one in the works for 1/2 that price.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

@HeavyG - that's cool and the gang. I'd imagine you'd get better results with the lid closed. Still, maybe I'm just cheap, but $250 seems like $200 too much for what is basically an electric motor and a spigot."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

Sorry this looks like the biggest waste of money I have seen in a long time. If someone gave me one I would use it twice. Once to try it and the 2nd time to confirm I could throw it out.
-
@JohnInCarolina Cool factor aside I'll pass. I can't justify a purchase on a gadget that will only get occasional to seldom usage. I have the Kettle Q & have only used it a few times. Which reminds me I need to break it out again soon. Bottom line the egg cooks fine without a rotisserie. And I'm a gadget freak.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

I might buy one just cuz the price is less than what I saved by buying the Rtic rather than the Yeti - it's like free money!“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Diçk -

I think the Carson doohickey is a neat cooker. One of my backburner projects for about a year now has been to convert my "portable" brick WFO into a Brazilian-style grill (it'll happen some day).
My issue with this thing is storage when its not in use. I have a dozen other cookers, so one of my Weber kettle grills is dedicated to hold the rotisserie accessory. Haven't used it in a while, but at least its covered up and out of the way.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -
