I saw that and passed as that is more of a grab than I am willing to pursue.  I can buy the SRF Black briskets with no hassles or obvious retribution from SWMBO- I am not yet ready to give her an opening...  but if you can swing it-than have at it, for sure.  ;)

I have not pulled the trigger (yet). Just did the math on 2x black vs gold with sale. For 2 x 11-14lb briskets with standard shipping it works out to an extra $28.10 per brisket. That's not pocket change, but it is beer money.

I'm cooking a SRF Gold grade tonight for first time so I'm hoping it will knock my socks off! --Just sayin-- Picked up Prime 17lb brisket from Louisville Costco for $2.79/lb last weekend (compared to $13/lb "sale".

@Raymont - Have you been as far as SRF's black before?  You can taste a difference between the black and the Costco  prime but the difference to me, in taste, texture and $$, is not enough to make SRF anything more than about a 3-4 times/year special cook.  I am more than happy with Costco prime on a routine basis.  FWIW-

@ SGH - have not been to that rarified place in the brisket world-as I mentioned above, I can get the black with no hassles from SWMBO so I choose not to push any further.  Some day I will make the leap but now is not the right time.

Bump because the weekend is drawing to a close and the deadline is nearing. I may have just done the things and I will find out the ramifications of my actions on Wednesday when a SRF cooler box with 2 gold briskets is delivered at my current place of residence. Notice I said current, because who knows where I will be living after Wednesday, but I will have some quality briskets in hand and need an egg to cook them on.

Send the wife to the spa or something so she won't be home when your package arrives.

@DMW - if after Wednesday you are no longer allowed to reside at your current residence, you are welcome at mine. I take SRF brisket for rent NO PROBLEM. I look forward to your cook.

Well, look what Brown Santa brought to the door this evening

One was 14.0lb and the other 13.2lb. For having ordered 11-14lb briskets, I'm pretty happy. Oh, and I'm still allowed in the house, that makes me happy as well.
