Turkey and duck

I am cooking fresh turkey and duck on the LGE for Thanksgiving. I was thinking on cooking the duck above the turkey and letting the fat drip onto the turkey. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I have a large BGE myself. With that said, you are really going to be pushing it trying to put a duck over a whole turkey unless you intend on spatchcocking the turkey. A whole turkey takes up a lot of head room. Not saying it can be done, but it's certainly not ideal. I would do one of two things. Either cook them separate if you want to cook them whole, or I would spatchcock the turkey to buy head room if I was going to try cooking them at the same time. Just my thoughts my friend.

Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -
I thought about the head room problem and considered spatchcooking but the wife said "I want it cook to look like a traditional turkey." Therefore, I immediately agreed. I saw some things about turducken but did not look to closely. I will have to check it out. Any comments about doing such a creature?

Are you wanting to build the turducken yourself or are you going to buy it? I have cooked and assembled hundreds of them and there are somethings that you need to be aware of if you are going to try to assemble one yourself. It can be real tricky to get them put together correct if you have never done it. I would recommend that you buy one to cook if you have never assembled one before. Not saying that you are not capable of it, quite the contrary. Just saying with the holidays so close already that this is not the ideal time to take a chance. Thanks. Your advice both times has been excellent. This is not the time to experiment with family coming into town. I think I will cook them separately. I still would like to cook both on the Egg. Any suggestions on how to pull that off? And be warm/hot? And not dried out? Can I keep one in the oven after cooking it on the Egg?
