Tonight I finally did my first cook! Beer Butt Chicken right out of the BGE cookbook. Turned out amazing! My wife said it was the best chicken she ever had. Super juicy! Took it off at 165°, wrapped in foil for 10 minutes and carved. Used my Cyber Q to maintain pit temp of 375° which worked great except the recipe called for me to spray it about every 10 minutes which of course made the temp rise with all that fresh oxygen. It got up to 455°, but I didn't stress I just watched the temp on the chicken & took it off at 165°. I'm hooked!

Awesome color on that bird.
Word of advice...don't tell your wife when the temp spikes. Just close the vents a little and move on. The only thing you should be stressing about is whether the beer is cold.Large BGE

Is it bad I'm happy to see another addict?. Brand new egg, fresh gasket, DigiQ, chicken roaster.. Hitting it out of the park on first swing. Gonna need a table and an A/R soon! Ahh the memories.. the learning curve for pizza.. brisket. You'll love the wins and rebound from your losses. Enjoy the ride.

Looks good ... enjoy the ride. Spatchcocked is good, but than so is splayed chicken ... and wings ... and fried chicken ... oh, don't forget chicken breasts ... lollipops ... plus ... plus ... oh ya, boneless thighs ... then you can get into the Wok cooking. Oh man, it's going to be a long flight from here on out.

Beer Can is a right of passage. Check
Spatch is as good, easy and less muss/fuss in set-up and clean-up.
Enjoy your new best friend even though it is full of hot air.New Albany, Ohio -
