That's awesome!   Nice that a solid slow cooked wing took the competition over I'm sure plenty of standard buffalo style wings (not that there is anything wrong with those!)

Sooooo....the BIG question, Mr. Champion, is what are you going to choose for next year's comp?
I'd go pork BBQ. You'll get plenty of people serving their crock pot pork abominations or slow cooked oven varieties and then BAM! you come out with an egg masterpiece.  :money:
There were some other excellent wings there, but not as balanced in flavour I guess as mine.  Some were too saucy, some were too hot for most (not me) some were coated like fried chicken (they came in second place and I voted for them, they were tasty buy 1 dimensional in my opinion, and some were too soft and no crunch, one was way too smokey, that is all you could taste, etc.  I really think the hint of a mild smoke and tenderness from the BGE and Deez Nuts really worked well together that day.  For next year, I am thinking Pork shoulder might be too easy, unless its pork ribs, then I'm golden again I hope!  But not everyone has a smoker or even a charcoal grill, so I kinda want to pick something that everyone can do without the GBE as an advantage.  At least thats what I am thinking right now. More time to decide!  Thanks for your input!

  • I didn't see where you turned them while they were cooking for 2 hours, did you turn them at all? Thanks!
