    last winter we got an average of over 50 cm (40 inches) a month. ive owned my Large for 8 years and its never been covered

    Uncovered year round. The handle is the only thing that's taken a beating. Still very serviceable, just faded and rougher. 

    The only other issue noted has been the dome has froze to the base twice. Nothing that a little heat didn't resolve.

  • Looks like there's more that leave them out than cover them up. That's good to know that they can take the elements. 
  • FWIW, I will not use a cover as previously noted but there will be a roof above the Eggs next year to allow for less snow in the winter and shade in the summer. It will be open on all sides like a gazebo.

    Mine stay outside, the worst thing that has happened was the lid froze shut. I lit the fire from underneath and it soon thawed.
