Best way to spend a Saturday night
watching football - drinking incredible wine - eating hot pizza off Mini Max - laughing with our best friends and kids playing madden 2016 in the next room. Just Perfect!

Looking forward to the pizza. Nice wine!

Love the wine shot! We keep a decent cellar, stronger emphasis on red and white Burgundy. Nothing better than za, children and friends. I have said it before and will say it again, "My favorite wine will always be the wine I am sharing with my friends, no matter what the quality."

Hey chillin and @YukonRon what are some of your favorite reds you would recommend?Chicago, IL - Large and Small BGE - Weber Gasser and Kettle

What's the budget? A good daily in the $10-12 range...Coppola Ivory label or Carnivore are 2 of my favs. In the $18-22....grab some Justin, Decoy or Dreaming Tree Crush. If the Budget allows...Darioush, Schafer 1.5, Caymus 41 or anything from Turnbull or Rubicon are our favs. But really.....I agree with @YukonRon....I can enjoy just about any bottle I'm sharing with friends1 XL , 1 LBGE , 1MM a very tolerant hubby and 2 hungry teenage boys with a lot of friends. Ooh, not a fan of the Carnivore. Not sure why.
Our cheap dailys are Josh, Gnarley Head and a Temperanillo that we get from Sam's.
We have a bunch of wines cellared from Napa for the special occasions.
I'll occasionally grab a case from lastbottle.com when it looks good. I've found some great deals.

My faves are the red blends from the southern Rhone. They make wine like they are going to drink it. Try Hermitage, look for vintages 2012 - 2014. Mid range on cost 40-50 bucks.
Pinot Noir from the Bourne region provides my best selections. About 80-120 bucks but awesome every year. Charlemagne proclaimed Burgundy as his favorite wine region, and I know why. The whites from there are exceptional as well.
Cabs, Bordeaux. Period. Rothschild. Be prepared to go deep. The French have forgot more than we know about making wine.
Domestic reds, I prefer reds from Calistoga and further North from Napa. Find the wines made on Black Diamond Mountain. I like Von Strassers. Rudy was an intern at Rothschild in France for years, then bought lower elevation property on the mountain. His wines are lower priced due to location, but absolutely smokes the best that mountain has to offer. Some of the most prestigious labels come from the higher elevations of Black Diamond.
I could go on. Let me know hat exactly you are looking for in a red, and I might have something I can set you up with."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

Awesome, thanks for the recommendations. It's nice to hear some things to try at different price points, like <$20, $40, $80. I'm not sure I've ever bought anything that expensive for fear I'm not going to like it -- but it'd be fun to try some different stuff at the holidays with friends and family. We drink a lot of sparkling, and I know what different bottles are like at $15, $20, $75 dollars. I'd like to have some reds to reference like that but there are sooooo many more it's mind boggling.
My wife says I like reds that taste like dirt and earth I'm not sure how that translates into a kind of wine or region. But I'll look for some of these wines above and report back.Chicago, IL - Large and Small BGE - Weber Gasser and Kettle -
@Chillin@5 - great wine post, the Duel from Darioush is a terrific wine. Are you a fan of Chappellet? We did the tour there a while back and really enjoyed the Cabernet Franc and the Pritchard Hill Cab.
Heading out there in March, planning to come home with/shipping some new additions for the cellar.
Cheers!
