Rootbeer marinade?

Just curious, has anyone ever tried baby backs with a rootbeer marinade?  My wife talked to someone yesterday who claimed they are second to none.   thanks.

Lots of folks use a soft drink as a marinade. It's the sweet sugar taste that remains more so than the taste of the drink it's self. The acid in cola helps to start breaking down and softening the meat. If you ain't careful, it will turn things to mush if you marinate to long. As a side note, my wife's favorite way to eat chicken breasts is marinated in Coke.

I've done a ham in root beer years ago, it was very good but done in an oven, before I had my Egg.

thank you for the information.  thinking a bit more, how about "Not Your Dad's Root Beer?"  I was given a couple of cans but haven't tried it yet.  I think its about 5% alcohol.

I have never tried that one. Always used either Coke, Dr. Pepper or Barq's Root beer. Is it a actual cola type drink with fizz? If so, it will work just about the same. Just not sure about the taste.

@victor1 I almost feel I cloned to tell you to try the not Your Fathers root beer first, because you will realize it's not drinkable lol so the best option for it would be a marinade.

i know plenty of people who do like it, but it has a very sugary taste . It might make for a very delicious marinade. Not aure what the alcohol would add to it, if any.

I I would love to hear the results on that

i may have it incorrect...i think its "not your fathers rootbeer?  just a bit more of a hit...5% alcohol.  have it in the stores here, $10 for a 6-pak.
