Yeti may soon go the way of the buffalo if they dont lower their prices or do something drastic to shake up the cooler world again. You can now buy better insulated coolers at a much lower price. In terms of new sales, i dont think they will maintain their lead for much longer if they dont respond somehow. Some places around here are already getting away from carrying Yeti.

I know of this green grill company that is Yeti comparable and prices keep going up every few years.SGH said:Yeti may soon go the way of the buffalo if they dont lower their prices or do something drastic to shake up the cooler world again. It will be interesting to see how the cooler market responds. It's kind of done the opposite with ceramic grill competition

I concur with some of you reasoning above. But allow me, if i may, to flip the coin over and look at the other side for a minute. You use ceramic cookers as a example above. With that in mind, think of what ceramic cookers that most would probably consider superior to the fore mentioned "green" ones. Komodo Kamado probably comes right to mind. It cost several thousand more than the green one. But its also considered the best of the best. This is no longer true for Yeti. At one time, they were no doubt the baddest on the block. However several manufactures have now surpassed them in terms of insulation and at least matched if not surpassed them in quality. But they are by far and large still one of the highest priced out there. Second in price that i know of only to Orion. But again, Orion is certainly one of the ones that have no doubt surpassed Yeti in terms of quality and ice retention. So at the end of the day, Yeti is still wanting to command one of the highest prices out there for a product that is no longer at the top. Top price for a medium tier product. This is not the case with the green grill. While its price has steadily increased through the years, you can still buy several green grills for the price of one KK. When you look at it from this perspective, it makes one ponder even more if maybe the buffalo is on the horizon. Only time will tell my friend.WeberWho? said:I know of this green grill company that is Yeti comparable and prices keep going up every few years.

And for the record and clarification, Im not bashing Yeti at all. Im a Yeti owner. Mine is sitting in the back of my truck right now with drinks and ice in it. They are still great coolers. I just feel that there are now better alternatives out there at a much better price. With RTIC now on the market, there is no way under the sun that i would buy another Yeti cooler. Again, i own several different brands of rotomolded coolers: Yeti, Engel, Orca, Pelican and now RTIC. To be honest, i like the RTIC the best. Its basically a beefed up version of the Yeti at less than half the price. Yeti came up with a great product that looked awesome but was admittedly always over priced. Sometimes looks and a name go along way. With that said, "Yeti" is probably about the coolest sounding name out there. And the coolers are sleek looking to boot. I just cant help to wonder though if the name and looks will continue to command double the price with new manufactures entering the market every day. You got to admit, those RTIC coolers look just as pretty as Yeti.
