Brisket question

Hey,
 I am making or attempting to make the smoked brisket chili by Kelly and Bruce. Regretfully my brisket has taken longer than expected. Do I gain anything by not allowing it to rest after it reaches temp?  My intention is to use almost all of this for brisket chili, I appreciate any feedback from the pro's here. Thanks in advance.
