Gasket, Bands and Hinge Replacement

So the first Rutland I installed on my Large over a year ago I didn't do as nice of job as I would've liked. My bands and hinge have been an issue for awhile now (1/4"+ overbite, side to side wobble and hinge actually slightly cattywampus). Hooked up with @RRP (Thanks Ron!) to get a new Rutland and dealer for a warranty band & spring assisted hinge assy.
Here's some before shots.

Beautiful documentary! Got a kick out of how you laid out everything...just like a surgeon!

my band replacement was super easy to install. I used those little red gap things to help out...plus the help of the old man. Glad the ole husker egg no longer has a bite!!!St. Johns County, Florida

@RRP Thanks! I'm always like that with tools etc. Funny even with all this there is a slight overbite. Not too concerned about it so long as I have a tight seal. Which I should after conducting the dollar bill test. I took my time on this so I feel a lot better about it.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

If you look you can see I used a cheap throwaway plastic putty knife to spread the Permatex. By cutting notches in the edge it gave it a notched trowel feel and I feel that made the process easier.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Sounds like you are feeling better! Nice job

just to let my fellow egg heads know...the bands have a 5 year warranty on metal. " For these reasons, the Warranty on Metal, Stainless Steel and Cast Iron Components DOES NOT COVER RUST, OXIDATION, FADING or other BLEMISHES unless it also results in a loss of structural integrity or a failure of these components of the EGG."
Guys the key words is unless is results in a loss of structural integrity.

@stemc33 Thanks! I tell ya the directions Ron includes with each Rutland is easy to follow. The key is not to rush and from my experience using less Permatex yields better results. It took slightly less than 1/2 a tube this time. The first one I did I used a whole tubeLBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Greetings-
@NPHuskerFL, I am attempting the same process, are you willing to share your tips/steps on removing the old hinge? I have the white plates that came with the Egg but I am unsure about which bolts/screws to loosen. Any help and pictures would be appreciated. Thanks so much!
Cheers,
Chris

@ChrisgrillsSTLMO Place the white plastic retainers onto the hinge and zip tie to secure.
Loosen and remove these nuts with a 7/16" wrench or nut driver. Does this help?
