OT - Keurig Kold, ridicously silly and expensive.

So I admit to liking my Keurig coffee maker for its ease of use and variety of flavors. I was intrigued by the idea of a Keurig soda machine but this thing is beyond ridiculous. $369 for the machine itself and then $4.49 for a box of 4 Coke pods. To top it off it only makes 8oz servings. I usually buy soft drinks on sale at $2.50 for 12 so even if they gave away the machine, I would never pay $4.49 for 4 of the stupid pods. Am I the only one who thinks this thing is doomed to failure? Glad I sold my Green Mountain stock during the DRM fiasco.

I don't know if it is doomed, but I agree with you its a little expensiver per serving.  2ltr bottles of Coke or Pepsi  go for around $2 when on sale so over a dollar per 8oz serving its going to be a hard sell.  I am a bit of a Coke addict but wold never invest almost $400 to make an 8oz coke for a dollar plus.  Do ya ever wonder who dreams up these things???

Hard sell indeed. Yeah, gotta wonder who thought this was a solution by making an everyday consumable item more expensive for no good reason.

I need to do the math and see how much I'm paying for iced tea (which is all I drink) compared to soda/coffee.

This seems like the product press release should have an April 1st date.

Yeah that is freaking ridiculous.  I have actually replaced my Keurig coffee maker with a cheap coffee pot because I got sick of always being out of the K cups and the amount of $$ we were spending on them and all the excess waste.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Yeah, I have a French Press, but for quick, easy and unusual flavors, I still like the kcup offerings. Some good choices out there. One, Crazy Cups brand Coconut Chocolate Dream, sorta tastes like an Almond Joy bar...uuummmm. And since I am fairly new to coffee drinking, the unusual flavors are good to me. Never really liked coffee too much until my wife got me one of the Keurig machines for Valentine's Day a couple of years ago. I suppose if I was a real coffee drinker, I would not like it as much.

I have a Nepresso, so I always cringe at buying the capsules. My wife is the big coffee drinker and spending 70 cents per capsule is still cheaper than her daily Starbucks/local place.

I never buy kcups unless they are on sale. And yes, they are always cheaper, and tastier than Starbucks. I know somebody who gets a $5 concoction there at least once, sometimes twice a day. I am much to tight for that.

That is a good price. No Costco near me but might be worth joining and driving to.

Toddy man myself. Cheap and coffee is great. Saving me a good bit as I have given up Starbucks.  Means more bourbon money so was an easy decision.  :)

I bought the re-useable, fill em yourself, filter K-cups. I buy the beans at the grocery store where you can grind them up yourself at the store.  I did the calculations and found it was costing me about 11 cents per cup using premium coffee beans.  I love the ability to brew one cup of coffee at a time, and I'm not throwing away tons of little plastic K-cups.

Yeah, I have that little reusable cup filter thing too, but rarely use it as the kcups are just so quick and easy.

This is what you want ,works for me . Used to be Nespresso capsules were $.55 each ,when price jumped I went to sealpod and never looked back. I roast my own coffee from green beans and that's what I fill pods with .
