Does your egg stay open with the daisy wheel off?

Any adjustment ideas?

Check for level. Sounds like front may be low.

what @theyolksonyou said, PLUS somebody may have installed the bands/hinge upside down so the spring assistance is closing the dome instead of helping you open it. Got a picture? Also for a large you should have 2 springs - do you? Do they look alike or did the seller break one and replace it with a common spring?Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time!

@theyolksonyouMy grill doesn't stay in one spot, I wheel it out from under my overhang when I use it, but the concrete is level
-
Yes mine stays open with no top cover. Picture of the hinge area would tell us more.
Kudos to @RRP for nailing that one!

Brilliant, I know for a fact the guy that I bought if from had the dealer deliver/build. Says something about that dealer..
-
Yep, upside down. And, your band bolts aren't bent. They should look like this...

It is an easy fix to flip them, maybe 20 minutes. Should solve your problems.

@feef706 epic fail if a "BGE dealer" did this install.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Lol, well since the bolts aren't bent should make for an easier un-install

So the bands themselves are also upside down? I would have assume I could just flip the hinge.
-
Just take your time flipping the bands. There are a few threads on here somewhere about adjusting them so the dome won't have excessive over or underbite. Good luck. I am not that coordinated but Ace Hdwe did a great installation.LBGE, AR. Lives in N.E. ATL

BTW, Be very careful when moving your egg. Always PULL it, never push. Consider BGE's Nest Handler.

Easier to just flip the entire band set. Zip tie them closed at the hinge, loosen the two bolts that are not bent. Lift off the dome, lift the band assembly turn over set back down. Set dome down align and tighten. Over simplified but basically all there is to it. If the gasket needs to be replaced now is the time.

My son in law has that nest handler... Loves it. If you move ur nest frequently it'll save your .... Er Egg. Good time to add to the nest as you'll have the dome off so easier to lift base from nest. But not essential if you are cash strapped now or can't get it delivered soon enough. Just a good eggcessory!LBGE, AR. Lives in N.E. ATL

Thanks to everyone for all the feedback and advice, I will be fixing this over the weekend, and will look into the handler
-
Problem solved, thanks to all for the help. I know the bolts aren't bent yet but I want to look into a bigger handle as mine is the old style small handle so I didn't want to fully tighten yet.
-
Glad it worked for you. Be careful when opening the dome until you tighten those bolts. You could wind up with your dome in a zillion pieces if the bands come loose. It happens. Even if the bolts have been bent, they can be removed and reused. Don't try to straighten them. If you choose to replace them, they are simple Grade 5 carriage bolts, available at any hardware store.

@Carolina Q how much space should be left in the slot where the bands get tightened, the BGE instructions don't have a measurement . I'm going to do a final tighten up as I read the new wide handle isn't compatible with the old band, I'll just replace the grip down the road.

Torque the carriage bolts to 120 inch pounds or 10 ft pounds.
Save the manual.

I need to correct my previous post.
In that link scroll down to the Large, Medium & Small BGE section. Page 12 in the document.
There it says to torque to 125 inch lbs.
Sorry for any confusion.
