4.5 lb "thin/flat" cut brisket smoking help on the XL BGE

So all the supermarket had was a 4.5lb "thin/flat" cut brisket.  It's not superthin by any means, but i'm concerned at the long smoke and it getting done too early.  I was planning on using the maverick, but and setting up at 225, think it will go for 8hrs?  Thanks for any info!

Its hard to say without actually seeing it. However to be safe, start out at 200 degrees and then later you can walk the temp upwards if need be. Always better to be safe than sorry. Even without seeing it, my hunch is that it will not take 8 hours. There are numerous things that effect time, but a 4 pounder will go fairly fast, even a 225-250 degrees. Running at 200 will buy you considerable time without effecting the end quality at all. Heck if anything, it will allow you to pick up more smoke. Good luck and standing by for the finale..
