Waterproofing Maverick probes?

When I got my BGE, I also bought the Maverick probes. Within a year both the meat and temp probes died. I think they were submerged. So after a year without my Maverick, I finally bought new probes from them but I don't see how the probes won't die again because the probe is simply crimped on the wire. At least on my cheapo Sunbeam meat thermometer, there's some clear heat shrink tubing covering the probe and wire and that set is 6 years older than my Maverick.
So is there a food safe heat shrink tubing I can use on my Maverick probes to keep them watertight? I have tubing for electrical connections but 1) I don't know if it's food safe and 2) if it can withstand 300deg in the BGE.
Thanks,
Paul

Wrap in foil and like both politicians and diapers, change the foil often. Don't wash or submerge the probes, suggest you wipe with a scrunge or other rag that will take the big chunks off the probe - if you need to soak do it in a glass or cup so the probe cable junction stays dry. I wipe the probes and Thermapen with alcohol swaps.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

Also, no need for the probes until you wake up in the morning. Get up, check the egg, and stab the probe in.
