That's a shame about your vac sealer, but I'm glad to hear you already have a plan B in the works.

Just sealed 25 cups of Carolina Gold rice in my new VP 215. What a machine! I reduced the vacuum time to around 18 secs as that is where it would hit the last mark before the end. Once I got going, it was perfect. It would finish and I had my next bag ready to go. Well, one more question. For delicate stuff I manually STOP when the needle is about 1 to 1.5 marks from the max, this is where I watch the gauge like a hawk. After a few tries, you'll find a comfortable setting.canuckland

If you haven't figured it out by now, I over analyze the hell out of almost everything. Looking at my gauge, you mean the 1/2 mark between .8 and -.1? I guess anywhere in the green is supposedly good to go.

The beast is remarkably quiet too. Totally amazed at the quality of this product and I'm so did the right thing sending the other one back. I'm seeing more stuff that was out of place or broken. In fact, I'm notifying Amazon that this sellers condition of "very good" was approaching fraud. Near miss avoided.

Another reason I don't go by time is, depending on the number of white cutting board fillers inserted, and volume of food, the time it takes to reach the same 'mark' varies.

Yup it's a beast, mine sits on a commercial cart with other toys. For oil change I just raise it by few inches on wood blocks.
