2am Butt

Getting the weekend started early. 10lb butt went on at 2am. Headed for bed and leaving meat to the electronic wizardry. Sure hope it works out. I picked up the cyberq when I purchased the egg. Found out real quick temp control with the egg is far easier than I ever imagined so it hasn't seen much use. If I get some sleep then it's worth it. We'll see in the morning.

Just went into the foil at 8:30. It's had plenty of pecan smoke by now so that's the only criteria at this point. Bark is set and it's looking good.

Was just thrown a curve and had to head to work for 3hrs. I don't have the port forwarding feature set up on the cyberq so I turned on the ramp feature when I left the house. Temp was 168 and coming out of the stall when I left. Anybody have any experience with the ramp? I have none and I'm hoping it works. So far this pit controller had been rock solid. If it saves me here I'll be a real happy camper. I should make it home before its gone too far but...

Made it home just in time. Ramp function was working as the target pit temp had dropped by 5 degrees and the pit viper was at zero percent. Turns out I didn't need the ramp anyway, the butt was on the money at 195 and probed like butter. Resting for the next 20 min or so and then will FTC for a few hours until it's time to eat!

Total success! I know, I know , it's just a  simple pork butt but for me this is huge. Everybody loved it and I have the LBGE and all of you to thank for it. So, thank you for this first major success and the many more challenging ones to come.
