Why?

My wife had some friends over and they asked why the BGE wasn't called the big avocado instead. I realized they had a damn good point. So, now I'm wondering where the name came from.

    There is one called the "Avacado".....they sell it at Menards.

    Dr. Seuss invented the BGE ;) Thus he named it after his famous story.

They’re egg-shaped, obviously, and large. I started thinking about colors and thought, Green is a nice enough color. Why not? Big Green Egg seemed to fit just right.”
