Bacon for the First Time
I decided to see what the fuss was about with bacon on an egg... cooked on an egg that is, so I fired up the egg to get her going for the day. Cooked some bacon to go with the edible eggs and I would say it was a huge success for two reasons:
1. I ate some good bacon without the typical clean up mess, and
2. the egg was all warmed up and ready for the spatchcock chickens I through on at noon (coasted the egg for a while to conserve on lump and cranked her back of up for the chicken).
Good start to a day of egging.

@Pridnjoy, GAME! ...
@BigGreenBamaGriller, the egg has seen many cooks, but you are right, the bacon is sure to have left a little flavor for the spatchcocks I put on at noon.Bloomfield Hills, MI | LGBE : AR R & B Oval Combo w/Extender and Sliding D Grid : Kick Ash Basket : Smokeware Cap : Smobot Beta -
Still haven't tried bacon - looks great! What temp and for how long did you cook it? Looks like raised indirect.Two Large Eggs, 6 gal Cajun Fryer, and a MiniMax in Charlotte, NC - My New Table

@HofstraJet, temp was 300. Standard grate on top of the extended shelf of the AR. The foil was left over from a previous experiment and I used it on the lower shelf to catch the bacon drippings. Time will be different depending on how you like your bacon. I'd guess 20 minutes or so to get the bacon crispy, no limp bacon. Factor in the time it takes for you to get your egg up to temp to figure out entire timing.
For me, it was worth the time on the front end to save the time of the clean up on the back end, and the added bonus of getting the egg ready for the lunch time cook mentioned to start the thread.Bloomfield Hills, MI | LGBE : AR R & B Oval Combo w/Extender and Sliding D Grid : Kick Ash Basket : Smokeware Cap : Smobot Beta -
Sounds great! So no stone in the middle - just the foil, right?Two Large Eggs, 6 gal Cajun Fryer, and a MiniMax in Charlotte, NC - My New Table
