Looks like it has the potential of 10,000 wires to break and eat!

I hope not. Although swallowing may not be the only issue. The exit.....lol"One Job at a Time, One Day at a Time"

Sorry, but there have been numerous threads and warnings lately against using wire brushes. The exit is just part of the damage that both lodged and moving wires have reported injured people. Use is your option, but an ill-conceived one.CDPlaya said:I hope not. Although swallowing may not be the only issue. The exit.....lolRe-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -
I always follow a cleaning by using tongs with a oiled terry cloth towel to wipe clean. I use a heavy knap towel ,from my local golf store, that gets deep between the grates. I do this right before placing the food on.
great info , I never heard anyone injecting the splinters ."One Job at a Time, One Day at a Time"

@CDPlaya There have been a lot of people that have ingested grill brush bristles and with serious results. Use at your own risk.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

I have been using these pumice sticks after the grill is hot and then just wipe with an oiled paper towel before the food goes on

Grill brush ingestion horror stories pop up in the news every spring just like the warnings about the dangers of propane grills blowing up.
I've yet to see a news story about the dangers of not burping an egg but maybe one day.
It seems to me that if you are using a grill brush that might be of the type that can lose the occasional bristle a simple visual inspection and a good wipe down with an oiled towel or whatever would likely be sufficient to eliminate 99.9999% of the risk.

when it comes to wire brushes, it's better to spit than swallow.

I had never given it a thought. After 35 years of grilling, never had an issue. But i will be cautious about wiping down in the future"One Job at a Time, One Day at a Time"

I use balled up Aluminum foil, then a wipe down with a cloth, until grids are clean, then wipe down with olive oil or better. Seems to work ok."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

Smokeware makes a wooden grill scraper. Weirdest thing i have ever seen. conforms to you grating. But digesting the splinters......"One Job at a Time, One Day at a Time"

I switched to foil as well, thanks to this forum - works great for me.
A side benifit is not having the big ugly brush hanging around. Since then, I've questioned and tossed all the other "standard" grill tools. A short handled turner, and 12" tongs is all I need.Phoenix
