Do you oil your grates? Salmon is notorious for sticking, but obviously you flipped 'em with no problem (i usually smoke them on an alder plank).

Did you leave the skin on or did you take that off? I have never tried doing it without skin so far.

It's from SAMS and it never has skin on it, I need to share the cooking method, I misted it with EVOO (not much) and DP RR then smoked it on the indirect side of my XL with pecan chips for 10/12 minutes while the temp came up to 450 and I then put them on the direct side of the grill for 2 minutes a side. It was still very moist.Charlotte, Michigan XL BGE -
Love salmon on the egg. How did you keep it from falling apart on you?LBGE, Paris, KY.

I make Salmon all the time and always do it the same way and method as mentioned above with very little trouble. I have trouble flipping Cod but still make it a couple times a month.Charlotte, Michigan XL BGE -
That salmon looks great. I just ate and now I'm hungry. I have to try smoking a fillet.

I have a family member who has requested this...I've never been a fan of any fish, so my experience is limited...does it leave an odor in the egg?Making the neighbors jealous in Pleasant Hill, Ia one cook at a time...

Not really on the odor, by the time it takes to settle the egg in on my next cook there is no odor at all. I just clean the grate and cook my next meal.Mike_the_BBQ_Fanatic said:I have a family member who has requested this...I've never been a fan of any fish, so my experience is limited...does it leave an odor in the egg?Charlotte, Michigan XL BGE -
I would recommend putting a couple fillets on a Cedar plank. It imparts a wonderful flavor and aroma on the salmon. No fish taste or smell. Take the skin off and any dark colored flesh running along the middle of the fillets. Dizzy pig raging river is my favorite rub for this, but there are numberous variations. Go for it.Mike_the_BBQ_Fanatic said:I have a family member who has requested this...I've never been a fan of any fish, so my experience is limited...does it leave an odor in the egg? -
Thanks @Grillmagic & @pgprescott. Is Raging river spicy at all? It's for my grandma and I don't think she would like anything resembling hot. thanks again!Making the neighbors jealous in Pleasant Hill, Ia one cook at a time...
