Cook suggestion for kids?

Pizza, done it.  Kids love it.  I'm looking for something else...

I have a 5 and 7 year old.  Like most kids that age, they tend to like bland food and don't try many things that don't look familiar.  Even if you know they'd like it.

Don't get me wrong, they are not difficult eaters.  They love when I grill salmon, yet I can't get them to eat shrimp.  ?

Anyway, I was looking for some suggestions of things I can prepare and grill with the kids this weekend.  Get them involved a bit in the prep and have them enjoy the results.  Looking for meat suggestions, not calzones and such.

Thanks for any tips!

You ought to be able to do just about any pork dish.  Pork tenderloin, pork chops, etc.  Because you can always cut out some from the interior and isolate a kind of bland part if they don't like the part with seasoning.

My kids really like lollipop chicken legs.  Here is a vid that shows how to prep them.   You probably don't want the kids helping with the prep on these too much...but they could slap on the bbq sauce.

Another thing that comes to mind is moinkballs.  They could help with the prep on those.

Some kind of fatty might also be fun.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

My family had lots of "cook-outs" when I was a kid. There were 3 things off a grill; hot dogs, burgers, and chicken legs. My fave was hot dogs, followed by chick legs, and then burgers. Absolute fave was fresh lake perch fried in a vat bubbling over the charcoal. Even if you could find the fresh perch, doubt if frying is something you want to do w. kids.

On the veg side, sweet corn roasted in its husk and drenched w. butter was always a happy maker.

My 9 year old loves quesadillas and nachos on the BGE! I let her do the assembly and then I cook. Fast and easy

I started baking bread on the Egg, and kids love helping with the prep work and dough. We've also done cinnamon rolls on the Egg, and the kids helped with all the prep.
If your kids like getting their hands slimy, meatballs can be fun (mine won't touch the stuff when prepping, but like eating them when I make them).
My kids also like chicken with sweeter sauces, like a teriyaki -- there are some simple recipes to make the sauce at home if you want the kids to help with pouring and mixing (there is a recipe in Raichlen's How to Grill that is basically OJ, soy sauce, some sugar, ginger and few other spices).  Works for boneless breast or legs/wings.
Also fun are s'mores in ice cream cones.  There are a few posts on how to do it -- we usually invert an aluminum pan, poke holes to hold the cones upright, grill indirect or raised direct to avoid scorching the bottoms of the cones.  Kids like to help loading the cones with mini marshmallows and chocolate chips.
