OK to reuse bent band bolts?

Hey all, I need to adjust the dome on my XL for an underbite and slight smoke leak. My band bolts are already bent. Do I need to buy new ones, or will the already bent ones safely and securely retighten after I've aligned the dome? Thanks in advance.

You should be able to straighten them out as long as they aren't completely warped.  @RRP had a great post recently about realigning your dome and straightening your bands. I'll see if I can find it. Edit:  I'm sorry I misread your post.  I thought your bands were bent not the bolts.  Itsfine to reuse the bolts.  I apologize again, I've been drinking.

I've taken mine apart twice and the bolts are fine to reuse. I recently swapped out a cracked base and retightened the previously bent bolts with no problem.

This ain't an engine head.  They're fine.  Don't try to bend them straight, use them just like they are.

I've probably taken my egg apart to transport a dozen plus times and never been an issue reusing bent bolts

I have about 100 grade 5 carriage bolts so I go fresh anytime I need to adjust kid or replace a gasket.

Bending metal "work-hardens" it.  (think coat-hanger wire: easy to bend once, a bit stiffer to bend back, stiffer again to bend again, it keeps getting stiffer, then brittle, then it breaks).
Re-using the bent bolts once or so will probably work, but I agree with 4Runner.  In fact, the one thing I don't like about the Egg's design are these "bent bolts"; you don't see that kind of design anywhere else that I know of.

My egg is fine tuned.  I replaced all hardware with hollow titanium hardware.  Shaving weight is critical to performance.

That's exactly why I recommended *not* trying to straighten them out.
