so I lit the charcoal up and and was letting it burn for some minutes with the kid up, and while the charcoal was burning I heard a pop and some charcoal pieces popped up. I hope I did not crack anything on the inside of the egg. Everything on the outside seems fine it I need to take out the firebox and see if anything is cracked on the inside. Has this ever happened to any of you'll? By the way I am using the big green egg charcoal. There was also charcoal burning on the bottom of the egg and I quickly took that coal out. It wasn't a lot but there was some burning.

Do you have a cast iron grid? That's mine sounded like when they broke. Two of them, actually.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

It is the same one that came with the egg. I have only had it for about a week. I have both vents wide open right now and the highest I can get it to is 470.

I actually did not have the grid on now that I'm thinking about it. A charcoal flew out. Yikes

File a claim, but you can still use it. You can even wire it together if you want.

That's what mine looks like on my xl. Been that way for years. My dealer won't change it out since it still works

Strange, must have been a bad pouring. I know they crack over time but not usually that quick.Columbus, Ohio--A Gasser filled with Matchlight and an Ugly Drum.

Yeah that is actually the fourth time I fire it up and I am going to call the dealer and see if they can fix it. I will be out of town for the next two days so hopefully they fix it before I get back!

Mine blasted apart on my first hi temp (400F). A small piece of the grate blasted out with such force it lifted the grid and lid on my XL and embedded into the dome, other pieces chipped the inside of the dome. Filed a claim, dome grate and gaskets replaced."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

Mine looks much worse, has a deep crack, is warped now and I've had it maybe 20 months. One of these days I'll file a claim for it, my firebox and the bottom of the egg that now has a hairline. One of these days.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER -
Wow, luckily I was about 5 feet away from the grill a couple of charcoals popped out.
