Cherrywood logs

My bro in law is a tree guy and he gave me these cherrywood logs. If  I make these into small chunks can I use them for smoking? Do I have to let them dry out?  Thanks for the help

Sure you can. Fist sized chunks and you'll be set for a while. Some folks dry, some don't bother. When I get some green wood, it starts drying right away. By the time I'm halfway through it, the rest is dry. :)

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Yep, for a couple chunks added to lump for smoke flavor, green is OK. If you are using it as splits to fire a stick burner, you want dry, not green.

He gets this all the time. I think I'm gonna start making my own lump. I can get all the oak and maple I could use
