What's your price per pound for brisket?

the butcher shops in my area are 3.99-5.99 a pound just depends on grade.  I also have the largest Wagyu breeder in my area, and he's $19 a pound I believe.

In Hawaii (Honolulu) on vacation we stopped at Costco for some supplies.  Peaked in the meat department,  had prime packers for $3.49 and full pork bellies for 2.99.  We don't have that in utah

You going to the north or south store?  I bought a 10 pounder at the north Austin store last week and they had several in the 10-12 pound range.

@evie1370  , I'm also in Cincinnati and you can sometimes find full packers at GFS for around $3.89/lb.  You can also join KCBS for $20/year and get an annual membership to Restaurant Depot.  I was just there this weekend and packers were $3.19/lb.

Thanks for the tip! I am going to try that, really great savings there! I will start with GFS, though have been thinking of joining RD for awhile so that will happen too!

Ugh would love to have a costco that sells them but I guess 5.50 is in the ball park.

Isn't a lot of that fat lost when you trim and cook the brisket?  All that cutting and rendering should drop the percentage a good bit.

Can't argue with the sodium though...we'll slather it with salt.

I go to HEB (Texas) and they have been steady at $2.97/lb or about $4 for Prime.  My HEB did not participate in the Memorial Day Sale at $1.77/lb though.

@Miked125 I would say so. I have a packer here that I buy direct from and it's 4.99. Beef prices in Canada are crazy. I get all of mine from a friend and even then it was 4.35 a lb for a quarter beef. Grocery stores here in Ontario are asking 5 a lb for hamburger.

A brisket has 2 parts.  The flat (lean meat and easily dries out) and the point (fatty but lots of flavor).  A packer has both of these and cooks better than just a flat.

I pay about $10/pound for a full packer in Chicago, but we keep Kosher so I'm limited to buying directly from the Kosher butcher.

For my brisket,  just your soul....  But The HEB stores on Corpus usually have packers for about $2.97 with an occasional sale around $1.89 per pound.

I just got back from a tour around Little Rock looking for some flats, which I couldn't find.  Edwards had prime angus packers at $5/pound, Walmart had choice at $3, and Kroger only had the little corned beef packages.
Walmart did have tri-tip, which I hadn't seen around here previously. It was $7 per pound.
