OT Dog Feeder

Going to Vegas for 5 days, and my normal dog feeder that I pay is on vacation. Thinking of buying an automatic programmable dog feeder. Anyone have any experience with these? Are they worth the money? Or should I just Kennel Halle for the 5 days. She has a lot more room to run around at our house.

How long till you're gone.  Free feeding is pretty popular and most dogs only eat what they need.  Most dogs destroy food once you put it down because instinctively, they don't know when they're getting another meal.  Like somethings, there are several people against it too.  I personally schedule feed because my lab will eat till he explodes.

You could do a test run and see how your dog does.

This is what I used when I had my dog. It was just a rainproof gravity feeder. I'd get a neighbor to peek over the fence every day or two while we were away. 100'x100' fenced yard was better than paying for a 8x10 prison cell IMO.

Kennel is the answer, IMO. We have lots of great kennels with play parks and runs and if your friend is social, he will have so much company he might never want you to come home.
Check them out, costly put good piece of mind.

We are so lucky to have a lady who comes at about 7:30 / 2:00 / 8:00p each day to let our 70lb poodle out for about 10 mins each time. This cost us $5 per visit. So much less than boarding and the dog is never sick.

I have a Lab. Can't free feed her, she will eat until she explodes.  I saw a programmable one on the internet for $150. I may go with that. She is very social. But the kennel near us does not have the space in their dog runs that we have in backyard. Plus she likes to bark at and play with neighbors dog through the fence. I can have my sister in law come every other day and check her.

My dad uses an automatic feeder for his beagles with no problem. They will be gone for a week at the time with no problem.

I wouldn't want to kennel if I didn't have to. When I go out of town I get a buddy to come over and feed and water my dog.
