I am doing a ton of research on a larger non-BGE smoker and came across this article:

http://pigskinbarbeque.com/top-10-bbq-books/

It has the Aaron Franklin's new book but doesnt have them ranked numerically. I have seen some discussed on this forum and some that hasnt. There is a list from Amazon's best sellers at the bottom of the article.

Just thought I would share.

What type of smoker are you leaning towards.  One day I'll be in the same boat as you, so I always like looking right now.

Any list without a single APL or the Jamsons book is worthlesss

I have opened up a can of worms. There are so many options that my head is spinning. I really want an offset reverse flow horizontal but due the the cold weather (4-6 months /year) in MD I am leaning towards an insulated vertical. The dilemma is that I want it on a trailer so I can cook anywhere. Pitmaker, Stumps, Spicewine and a few others. Trailer models bump the price up quite a bit which is expanding my budget. I was ready to spend but the extra money has me hesitant.

I'm with you, I'm in Northern VA myself so I know the 4 - 6 month cold weather too.  I really want a trailer mounted offset myself, but I definitely don't have the need and fighting it through the cold seems like more hassle than it's worth.  I'm really liking those Pitmaker Vaults that @cazzy and @SGH both have, I just don't have the need even for something like that yet, not cooking for enough people.  I'd love to have a catering business or BBQ joint around here one day to justify the purchase.  Good luck in search.

  • GATABITES thats my article you referenced, Thanks!!!
It's not in any specific order because it's actually the top ten bbq books we see fit over at out site.
beteez APL or the Jamsons book didn't make our list but that doesn't make it useless either. Those may be must have books for your list but not ours, everyone has their preference.
