No soak?
Hold the salt from your rub.
Check the package for sodium content. The one I have in the freezer is 970mg sodium, 40% DRV.

Unless you love super (almost inedible) salty..I'd "reverse brine" that puppy for at least a day - cover with water and put a bunch of cut up potatoes in the water with the corned beast so it soaks some salt out.

Used Montreal seasoning on it... Like it on the salty side, that's why I only make once or twice a year LOLMSV Chill Spot

Looks good so far @hapster. I have two corn beef briskets in the freezer and was thinking of soaking one and just letting the other go on its own. I was just going to use the flavor pack that came with it and some coriander.
By the way it would will be interesting in a week in a half when the Royals and Tigers meet. That is if the Royals can field a team if they aren't all suspended.XL, WSM, Coleman Road Trip Gas GrillKansas City, Mo. -
That looks insanely good BEFORE the cook, I can only imagine the post-cook pics! What was your pre-cooked weight? All the Corned Briskets in the stores here are fairly small...

Sorry guys... No pics. Way too salty, even for me. Probably better tacked to a tree during hunting season.
Pastrami fail... Next time I will definitely soak before attemptingMSV Chill Spot
