I haven't used my egg since Christmas and am doing a ham for Easter. I looked inside and the mold has setup so I just fired up the egg to do an interior clean. I checked on it around 550 deg and noticed a bunch of brown stuff bubbling on the exterior. I assume this is moisture seeping thru the ceramic, but want to be sure. Anything I should be concerned about? What's the bet way to clean this off the exterior? Trying to get my egg ready to go since I'm doing Egret's Ham for the family tomorrow.

Thanks for any help.

Just wipe it down with Simple Green. Mine will do that in the winter to sometimes.
Not to get technical, but according to chemistry alcohol is a solution...

Mine has never done that, but yours is not the first I have seen posted on this forum. I would go with @bud812 suggestion.

Were you in prison? My egg went to work at -30c most of the winter and was happy to do so! But I have never seen that before

Mine had something similar once last year, not as bad. I remember using it, and not doing anything anything to the exterior, and it was gone a couple days later when I went to use it again.Large BGE, Mini BGEMorgantown, PA

It's just moisture seeping out and carrying the grease with it. The glaze has a bunch of micro cracks in it. Simple Green cleaned it up on mine.
