OT - Boca Raton Florida

Not much of a beach kind of guy, but my family has once again talked me into going to Florida for Spring Break.  Plan to play a little golf, maybe tennis and not sure what else for a week.   I can't sit long on a beach.

Suggestions for things to do, see and eat in the area would be greatly appreciated.

Have you considered other parts of Florida?  Here in Melbourne we have 70 miles beaches, Space Center. an hour away from Disney and all the tourist attractions and lot less traffic than Boca.

I haven't been there in 20 years, but, there was this BBQ joint called "Tom's Place" in Boca.  Reading Yelp, they moved to Boynton Beach and is now moving to Delray Beach.  Both are close to Boca Ration via I-95 or Hwy 1.

Large BGE, Small BGE, KJ Jr, and a Cracked Vision Kub.

    in Smyrna GA.

I live in Boca Raton, have for the last 26 years.  You've come to the right place for golf and tennis, plenty of options for both.  What dates will you be here?

Tom's Place in Boca closed a number of years ago. One on the younger generation family members opened a place in northern Palm Beach County which has closed. Another of the younger generation family member opened the Boynton location recently. It is a little hole in the wall cooking up some good Q.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I will be there April 4th through the 11.
Agree Fort Myers side is good and done several trips there and Marco Island.  Decided to try something different this go around.

Everglades Holiday Park is a county park not too far from Boca. Airboat rides into the everglades and lots of gators to see. Of course Everglades National Park is in south FL. Holiday Park would be a much shorter trip but still give you a taste of the glades.

Lion Country Safari is a drive through animal park that may be of interest.

Butterfly World is located in Tradewinds Park south of Boca in Coconut Creek.

Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is in Boca. It's near the beach. They do sea turtle rehabilitation and have some marine aquariums.

There are several museums in the area including Norton Museum of Art, Boca Museum of Art, Flagler Museum, Society of the Four Arts.

As mentioned earlier, area is good for golf, tennis, fishing, and beaches.

There are four public courses in Boca:

    Boca Municipal and Red Reef
     http://http//www.ci.boca-raton.fl.us/rec/golf/Champ/

    Southwinds Golf Course http://www.pbcgov.com/parks/sports/golf/southwinds/rates.htm#.VRwxK_zF914

    Ocean Breeze Golf Course http://http//www.oceanbreezegolf.com/

Red Reef is closest to the beach, but it is a 9 hole executive course.  Boca Municipal and Ocean Breeze are in central Boca (about 10-15 minutes from the beach).  Boca Municipal is a much nicer course.  Southwinds is in West Boca (about 15-20 minutes from the beach).  They will all cost between $20 - $45, depending on what time of day you play.  I would rater them in order:

    1. Boca Municipal

    2. Southwinds

    3. Red Reef

    4. Ocean Breeze

I don't know if you're a baseball fan, but Opening Day is Monday and the Marlins have 3 home games vs. the Braves (Mon-Wed).  Marlins Park is about 1 hour from Boca Raton.
