First scratch pizza ever. I went with a simple no knead recipe as it seemed to be the easiest. Simple sauce and toppings (cheese, hot peppers, marinated olives).

Dough Recipe
Sauce Recipe

Turned out pretty good and SUPER fluffy.  I loved the sides as they got crispy and cheesy.  Next time I will put more sauce on and maybe finish on a burner to get the bottom more crispy.  Should have taken a side profile shot of a cut piece.

  • Oh yeah - I love it when the cheese gets a little toasty like that.

  • Anyone posting pictures from an SGS3?  My pictures seem to always be sideways and I'm not sure how to fix it...

Pies look great.  What kind of pan is that?  Is it a CI pie pan...or just a skillet and the handle is not in the pics?

I think the forum will post pics sideways if they are portrait.  Try turning your phone 90 degrees (landscape) when you take the pics.  They are not sideways when I view from my iphone but are on my PC.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Thanks!  It's just one pie but a before and after pic.  The pan is just your average 10" CI pan without the handle pictured.

I think your spot on with the pictures.  I should just get in a habit of always taking landscape photos.

    Looks good.  How'd it taste?

It was pretty good but it felt a little like eating cheesy bread that had been dipped in sauce.  Next time I will use more sauce, more cheese, and finish on the burner to get a darker bottom.

I don't see myself making many more pizzas in this fashion, I want to head towards a thinner crust / pizza stone style pizza but it's nice to know I can do it.

I've done one of these after an eggfest. Just plopped trader joes dough into cast iron and proceeded with the pizza. It was decent.

I need to get a deep dish pan.  That looks delicious!
