BGE Medium Change History

Does anyone know the change history on the Mediums?

I just talked to CGS (super nice and knowledgable).

It sounds like BGE has recently changed the grid and firebox.

My parents bought a medium 5+ years ago without a platesetter. I recently bought them a new PS and found 2 things had happened:

    1) the new PS has 3 legs where the old one had 5.
    2) the old grid will not fit the new PS.

The first issue is not too bad as it still fits, just not in the notches provided. The second issue can be solved but only by buying a new grid.

The local dealer looked at me like I had a 3rd eye when I brought this to their attention, which was surprising as I have read similar reports here.

Me either. My 14 year old medium has only 3 legs and the fire ring has no notches other than the 3 dippidty-dos common to the older fire rings.

My 2012 MBGE has a fire ring with 5 dippidty-dos (to borrow @RRP's technical lingo). The fire ring will also only go in one way, it is slightly conical. The grid size was a touch larger than the pre 2012's, went thru some discussions when looking at a woo for it.

I guess I should clarify.  The fire ring has 5 "dippity-dos" which I assumed meant the PS had 5 legs, which I cannot confirm or deny as they did not buy the PS. Regardless, the new PS I bought for them will not fit in any of the 5 "dippity-dos" and the old grid will not rest evenly on the new PS legs when set up for indirect grilling.

The cooking grid size changing has been an issue with several models over the years. Really is a pain.
